This year's Formula 3 Euro Series calendar has been revised in the light of the new FIA European Formula 3 championship that has been formed ahead of the up-coming season.
The changes concern the second round of the championship, which was originally pencilled in for EuroSpeedway Lausitz on May 4-6 but which will now instead take place at former British Grand Prix venue Brands Hatch on the outskirts of London two weeks later. The previously scheduled round at Oschersleben in September has also been dropped from the calendar.
Felix has never raced at Brands Hatch before.
The Formula 3 Euro Series season will now be contested over a total of eight weekends across five different countries - Germany, Great Britain, Austria, the Netherlands and Spain - with all of them set to run in conjunction with the DTM. There have been no changes to the sporting structure of the individual events, which will all once again feature three races each - two of which will run over 40 minutes, and one (Race 2) taking the shape of a 20-minute sprint.
The decision from the organisers to make the calendar more logistically viable for teams and drivers who intend to dovetail their regular campaign with an assault on the European championship has been made to further strengthen Formula 3 ahead of 2012. Eight out of the ten scheduled rounds of the European championship will now coincide with Formula 3 Euro Series events.
