Felix adds to points tally with fifth in Brands Hatch Race 2

FIA Formula 3 European Championship | Round 4
Brands Hatch (Great Britain) | Date: 18 May 2013 | Weather: Cloudy

By Mattias Persson

The second race of the weekend at Brands Hatch resulted in fifth place for Felix, as he consolidated his third-row grid slot to secure further valuable points towards the FIA Formula 3 European Championship standings.

Retaining his P5 position off the line, Felix embarked on what would turn into a lonely race, where he followed fourth-placed Sven Müller home while holding Tom Blomqvist at bay behind throughout the 50-lap event.

While the gap between the trio fluctuated somewhat as they set about lapping the backmarkers, they would all keep their position without drama, Felix eventually coming home 13.3 seconds adrift of race winner Raffaele Marciello (Prema Powerteam).

The final race of the weekend will be run tomorrow morning, with Felix again set to start from fifth on the grid.

"A rather straightforward race for me. The car behaved very differently to this morning, however, and we need to make sure we understand why that was. It might have been an effect of the rubber laid down by the cars in some of the other series this afternoon, but we are yet to analyse that. There were big problems with getting past some of the backmarkers in this race and a lot of people did not respect the blue flags, but eventually, it didn't affect the end result. It's important to keep scoring points in every race, and that's what we've done today. I'm already looking ahead to the final race here tomorrow!"
