Felix has completed a two-day test at EuroSpeedway Lausitz, as he returned to the cockpit of his Mücke Motorsport Dallara for the first time since winning the RTL GP Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort a little over two weeks ago.
The test, which gave Felix his first taste of the long 4.5 km version of the German venue, took place on Tuesday and Wednesday (August 30-31) and delivered several positive results. Although the test was run in so-called "private" conditions, meaning no official time keeping was available, Mücke Motorsport's own timing equipment signalled that Felix set the fastest lap on both days of action. Joining Felix and his team-mate Nigel Melker for the test was Motopark Academy and a number of German ATS Formula 3 Cup teams.
For once, the drivers were treated to some completely dry running at Lausitz, with previous tests at the venue having almost been washed out earlier this season. Thanks to the stable weather, most teams were able to complete their programmes without problems.
"We've had two positive days, and the pace has been promising as well," Felix said on Wednesday afternoon. "It's always dangerous to read too much into a test - especially a private one like this - but I do know that I finally managed to set my fastest laps on new tyres; something I've been struggling to do here at Lausitz in the past. Day two was a little bit warmer and the circuit got slightly slower, but I feel that I continue to develop my driving and I think it was a good decision to do this test."
Felix's next outing will take place at Silverstone in one and a half weeks' time, when the British Grand Prix venue plays host to the seventh round of the Formula 3 Euro Series season.
