Felix goes fifth-fastest in Free Practice

Felix looked set to top Free Practice at the Nürburgring with more than half the session completed, but eventually wound up fifth after a series of late improvements from his competitors. Ultimately, Felix's best lap of 1m53.922s was 0.292 seconds shy of Nürburgring virtuoso Tom Dillmann's pace-setting effort at the front of the field, while Denmark's Marco Sörensen - returning to the championship after being unable to take part in the last few events - went third quickest. Felix's team-mate, Alon Day, was fourth on the timesheets.

In the two preceding unofficial test sessions that took place earlier today, Felix set the second-fastest time overall - just four thousands slower than Dillmann. Felix, however, was one of only a handful of drivers not to improve on their previous fastest lap come Free Practice, and therefore ends Thursday activities with a personal best of 1m53.879s from Test 2.

At each round of the season, the ATS Formula 3 Cup organisation undertakes a safety test to make sure that a randomly-chosen driver is able to extricate himself from his car within an acceptable amount of time in case of an accident. At the Nürburgring, Felix has been selected for the procedure and has been asked to take part in the exercise later this evening. On the circuit, meanwhile, action continues tomorrow with both the weekend's two qualifying sessions. Once again, Felix Racing's live commentary feed here at www.felixracing.se will take you through the rest of the event in real time, with coverage of Qualifying 1 beginning at 09.45 (GMT+02:00).
