Formula Renault 2.0 Italia - Spa-Francorchamps outing

Last weekend saw Swedish motoring talent Felix Rosenqvist make a one-off appearance at the Formula Renault 2.0 Italia race meeting at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, as highly-rated outfit Prema Powerteam wanted to evaluate the 16-year-old following his astonishing performances at Sepang a few weeks ago. The Italian championship is one of the toughest in Europe, and that - coupled with the chance to drive at one of the most challenging circuits in the world - gave Rosenqvist the opportunity to develop his skills further for future commitments. Having started out carefully during the first practice session, Felix unfortunately crashed into the wall at the ultra-fast Blanchimont corners - at 220 km/h - as rain hit the track for run two. The damaged car meant Felix was unable to do much running, and his entire weekend was compromised as a result. However, the Swede stood up well in the races and kept similar speed to his much more experienced rivals, yet had to relinquish his thoughts of top ten finishes as the lack of running time cost him dearly. The Belgian adventure was incredibly valuable, and sector times from twisting parts of the circuit indicate that Felix has got the pace to compete at the forefront of European racing in the near future.

Coming up next is another meeting at the Sepang International Circuit, as Formula Asia 2.0 returns to Malaysia. Make sure to keep up-to-date with all developments during the race weekend (14-15 of June) at www.felixracing.se, which will provide you with reports from the Asian championship.

During the weekend in Belgium, an onboard camera was fitted to Felix's Prema Powerteam car. The pictures are very interesting, and you can watch the clip by clicking on the following link:
