Felix wins again to end 2012 European campaign on top

Felix enjoyed the best possible conclusion to the 2012 European Formula 3 campaign by claiming his second win of the weekend at the Hockenheim season-finale, as he secured himself third place overall in the FIA European F3 Championship standings.

In a repeat of his Race 1 performance from yesterday, Felix converted pole position into a vital early lead, and gradually extended the gap over second-placed Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam) on the first few laps.

Juncadella, however, was swiftly passed by Felix's team-mate Pascal Wehrlein, who then shadowed Felix throughout the rest of the race as the Mücke Motorsport duo secured their second 1-2 triumph of the weekend.

The win brings Felix's victory tally of 2012 up to four, and means that no other driver has scored more points than Felix over the last three rounds of the championship. Felix ends up fourth in the Formula 3 Euro Series standings - just 27.5 points behind Juncadella, who went on to claim the title with fourth place in today's finale - and third overall in the FIA European F3 Championship.

COMMENT | FELIX
"A perfect way to end the European season. I really couldn't have asked for more than double pole positions in qualifying and two race wins, and this really gives me a lot of confidence going into Macau next month and into the subsequent winter break.

"I had a strange on-and-off feeling with tyres in this race, however, which meant that I was quick at some stages and quite slow at others. Pascal drove really well today and came close to challenging me a couple of times, but then I found some performance when I needed it and was able to open up a slight gap towards the end. I am very happy with this weekend and would like to thank everyone in the team who has helped improve the car over the latest few rounds. Also; congratulations to Pascal for winning the Rookie of the Year title, and to Daniel Juncadella for claiming the big one!"
