Felix will start tomorrow's Qualification Race in Macau from the front row of the grid, after going second fastest - just hundredths shy of season-long FIA Formula 3 European Championship rival Raffaele Marciello - in the concluding qualifying session on Friday afternoon.

The session was interrupted by a full three red-flag stoppages, brought out in chronological order by incidents and crashes involving Katsumasa Chiyo (B Max Engineering) and Double R Racing duo Sun Cheng and Antonio Giovinazzi.

When all the dust had settled and the session was finally declared over, Marciello had put in a 2m11.555s benchmark on a day that saw times tumble by over a second compared to yesterday's.

Felix fell just a mere 0.067s short of denying the Italian pole position, ending up second to - like so often this season - spoil a Prema washout party with Marciello's team-mates Alex Lynn and Lucas Auer filling row two.

The Qualification Race is run over 10 laps and gets underway tomorrow afternoon.

QUOTE | FELIX

"There is a lot to say about this session, but to summarise it all, I'm just happy to have come out of it in such a strong position. Having a decent slot on the grid for the Qualification Race is important, but it's not vital to be on pole or second; I think everyone on the first three or four rows still have a very good chance.

"My lap was good, but there was certainly more performance in the bag. I got a very good slipstream on the straight and wanted to make sure I took advantage of that, so I held back ever so slightly throughout the rest of the lap just to get a banker. After that, I never got the chance to improve because of all the red flags, but again: we've achieved what we wanted to, and we are in a strong place for the rest of the event."
