Felix goes third in second Masters of F3 practice

Felix continued to feature near the top of the timesheets in second practice for the RTL GP Masters of Formula 3, going third fastest behind the wheel of his Mücke Motorsport machine just hours after having set the pace in the opening session.

Felix slotted in just over half a second adrift of Lucas Auer, who topped the session ahead of Prema Powerteam colleague Alex Lynn.

Auer's time of 1m32.157s could not quite match the 1m31.989s best set by Felix in FP1, however, meaning Felix concludes the day having posted the outright fastest effort going into qualifying tomorrow.

The RTL GP Masters of Formula 3 features a dual qualifying system, in which the grid for Sunday's finale is formed on the basis of two separate sessions. Each driver's fastest lap - regardless of in which of the sessions he sets it - is used to determine the starting order, effectively giving all competitors two attempts at hauling themselves as far up the grid as possible.

"I had a decent feeling again in this session, but we ran on quite old tyres and I think that's the main reason for the gap to Lucas. Looking at both practice outings today, we have reason to believe that we're in for a strong weekend, but it certainly won't be easy and Prema in particular will be competitive. We need to sort a few things out set-up wise, and we are lacking some speed in the final sector. Having said that, I'm confident for tomorrow - and qualifying will be crucial."
