Roberto Merhi will join the Formula 3 Euro Series field once again in 2011. The Spaniard embarks on his third consecutive season in the championship, and moves from Mücke Motorsport - where he is replaced by Felix - to Italian outfit Prema Powerteam.
Merhi is one of the most experienced F3 drivers on the grid, and ended up fifth overall in the Formula 3 Euro Series standings last season. The 19-year-old joined Prema Powerteam for the international F3 finale in Macau at the end of the year, taking the chequered flag in eighth place - one position and one second ahead of Felix following an intense scrap between the duo at the end of the race. Merhi, who is part of the Mercedes young driver talent programme, recently attended the same pre-season camp as Felix as the Stuttgart car company kicked off its 2011 motorsport season in Austria.
Prema Powerteam has already confirmed Daniel Juncadella for this season's Formula 3 Euro Series championship, which means the squad has opted for an all-Spanish driver line-up ahead of the new campaign.
