FORMULA 3 EURO SERIES
Date: April 29th, 2011
Venue: Hockenheim (Germany)
Felix opened Formula 3 Euro Series proceedings at Hockenheim by going second-fastest in the first half of free practice this morning. Despite severe problems with excessive brake-locking (see picture), Felix wound up less than two tenths adrift of Daniel Juncadella with team-mate Nigel Melker in third place.
In the second and concluding hour of practice, however, both Felix and Melker fell back in the results list after struggling to come to grips with a sudden and negative change in car behaviour. The Mücke Motorsport drivers were running within the top three with 15 minutes to go, but experienced difficulties on their new sets of tyres while several rivals improved heavily in the dying moments of the session. Mücke Motorsport are currently looking into what might have caused the drop in pace on new Kumho rubber.
Laurens Vanthoor eventually went quickest overall (1m34.424s), with Felix's best time putting him 0.671s behind the Belgian Signature driver.
Qualifying - which promises to be just as exciting and close as everyone hopes - will take place at 17.05 CET this afternoon. LIVE commentary of the all-important session commences five minutes earlier here at www.felixracing.se.
