Formula 3 qualifying at the Norisring has been postponed until tomorrow morning after the Nuremberg street circuit cracked up under intense heat on Friday afternoon.
The grid-deciding session had originally been scheduled to take place at 16.15 local time, but was declared delayed when race organisers discovered cracks at the entry to the Schöller S chicane on the back of the circuit.
After track personnel had tried to get the situation - which came about on the back of scorching temperatures of more than 35 degrees Celsius - under control for nearly an hour without success, the decision was eventually made to postpone the session until tomorrow morning with the surface requiring more extensive reparation work overnight.
Qualifying has been rescheduled for 8.10 local time on Saturday morning.
