FIA Formula 3 European Championship | Round 6
Venue: Norisring (Germany) | Date: 13 July 2013 | Weather: Sunny

Felix took the chequered flag in second place in Saturday's second FIA Formula 3 European Championship race at the Norisring, overcoming pressure from Raffaele Marciello and Alexander Sims to cling on to P2 on a set of used tyres.
Starting from third on the grid, Felix got up into second place at the first corner, as pole-sitter Marciello ran wide whilst battling for the lead with team-mate Alex Lynn. The Englishman got the better of his Italian Prema Powerteam colleague to grab first place, while Felix slotted in behind. Marciello, meanwhile, dropped to fifth, with Alexander Sims grabbing third.
The race then settled in, with Felix initially challenging Lynn for the lead. Being the only front-runner equipped with four used tyres, however - opting to save two new Hankooks for tomorrow's Race 3 - Felix soon came under increased pressure from Sims, culminating in a late-braking duel into Turn 1 ten laps from the end in which Felix managed to avoid a near-spin.
Losing momentum, Sims then had to let the recovering Marciello past a few laps later, with Felix holding on to second across the line.
The result, of course, is still pending the outcome of the Mücke Motorsport appeal into a supposed fuel sample irregularity following qualifying, with Felix therefore not officially classified in any of this weekend's races.
QUOTE | FELIX
"A mentally very tiring race. Being the only guy up front using four old tyres, I was under pressure all the time, and the fight with Alexander was really, really close but completely fair. We had a bit of braking duel going into the first hairpin, and I only just managed to stop the car in time and avoid spinning as we turned into the apex. It was great fun, but my focus is already set on Race 3 tomorrow. We will be having two new tyres by then, but so will most of the others at the front and it is going to be a very competitive 42 laps around here - that's for sure."

NOTE: Felix was later reinstalled on all Norisring results, as the FIA closed the fuel sample saga by stating that no wrongdoing had been made.
