Official mid-season testing: Lausitzring - Day 2

FORMULA 3 EURO SERIES
Date: June 9th, 2011
Venue: EuroSpeedway Lausitz (Germany)
Weather: Sunny/dry

Felix once again battled it out in the upper regions of the timesheets as official Formula 3 Euro Series testing came to a close in perfect weather conditions at EuroSpeedway Lausitz today.

The Mücke Motorsport driver completed the second day of testing at the German venue without problems, racking up important mileage as times improved throughout the field in comparison to Wednesday benchmarks. Felix - who set his fastest laps on used tyres after experiencing difficulties getting the most out of new Kumho rubber - eventually wound up with a best effort of 1m18.101s over the two days of testing, posted this afternoon.

Daniel Abt (Signature) quickly got into the groove at his home venue, putting in the fastest lap of the test with a 1m17.735s effort this morning before Nigel Melker went quickest in the afternoon session, where Felix ended up third - 0.3s behind his team-mate, but just over a tenth of a second ahead of championship leader Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam). Both Felix and Melker set out for a final flyer with just six minutes left on the clock, but had to abandon their laps after Kuba Giermaziak (Star Racing Team) spun on the exit of Turn 3 and brought the day's running to a premature end.

The Formula 3 Euro Series fraternity is set to remain on German soil for the next round of the championship on July 1-3, which takes place at Norisring for the sole street circuit event on the calendar.

COMMENT | FELIX
"All-in-all, things have worked out well for us over the last two days and we have been fighting at the top of the timesheets throughout the test. For some reason, however, I was consistently unable to improve on new tyres today and I think that's why we are missing a couple of tenths on the list. I don't know why that seems to be the case, but I remember that I had the same problem here in German F3 last year. On used tyres, though, I felt very, very comfortable."

"We have worked through the programme we laid down for this week, and also managed to take a first look at our set-up for the next race at Norisring at the end of this afternoon. This was definitely a good test, which leaves me positive for the rest of the season."
