Felix Rosenqvist to make Macau Grand Prix debut

Felix Rosenqvist will take part in next month’s Macau Grand Prix, commonly hailed as the world finals of Formula 3. The Swede has accepted an invitation to participate in the famous race on the streets of the former Portuguese colony outside of Hong Kong, and will be competing with his regular team from the German Formula 3 championship, Performance Racing, in a Dallara F310 Volkswagen entry. The Macau Grand Prix is the world’s most prestigious and significant event for young single-seater drivers, with previous winners including the likes of Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher and Sweden’s Rickard Rydell.

”It’s a great
feeling to have been invited to do the Macau Grand Prix, which will of course be the most high-profile race I have taken part in during my career so far,” Felix Rosenqvist says. ”Competition will be fierce with all the best Formula 3 drivers on the globe set to take part, and - being a rookie to the event - I don’t have any targets or expectations whatsoever as far as results are concerned. I am going to Macau purely to watch and learn for the future, and it’s a challenge I am thoroughly looking forward to with much anticipation.”

Rosenqvist
, who finished in fifth place overall in the German ATS Formula 3 Cup championship this year after recovering from a tough start to the season marred by technical gremlins, is one of 30 drivers announced for the Asian end-of-term classic. Fellow contestants include 2009 winner Edoardo Mortara (F3 Euro Series champion in 2010) as well as all other front-runners and champions from the most important F3 championships in the world.

The Macau Grand Prix takes place on November 18-21, with Rosenqvist set to undertake a number of preparatory test sessions in the UK ahead of the event– which will also mark the 18-year
-old’s first taste of racing at a street circuit. Further information - including a complete entry list - can be found at www.macau.grandprix.gov.mo and at www.felixracing.se.
