The second F3 race of the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps has been cancelled on the back of a thunderstorm which hit the circuit just minutes before the event was due to start this afternoon.
The rain struck Spa at enormous intensity within seconds, once again proving just how unpredictable the infamous Ardennes weather can be following a day which had previously sported bright sunshine and temperatures of more than 30 degrees Celsius.
Organisers reported that three centimetres of rain fell within 10 minutes, making track conditions impossible for racing.
The race will not be rescheduled for later this weekend, as the crowded time table does not allow for such an amendment to take place. For the European Championship drivers - including Felix - the cancellation has minimal effect as the reverse-grid race would merely have acted as a practice opportunity and would not have counted for points towards the FIA European F3 Championship. The British F3 field, however, will try to get the event underway at another venue at a later date.
Felix was set to start the race from the front row of the grid.
The final race of the weekend - which was originally supposed to be the third but which will now in effect become the second - takes centre stage at 12.05 local time tomorrow.
