Felix recovers to finish in the points in Race 2

FORMULA 3 EURO SERIES
Venue:
Circuit Ricardo Tormo (Spain) | Date: September 29th, 2012 | Weather: Overcast

By Mattias Persson

Felix clawed himself into the points with eighth place from 13th on the grid in Race 2 at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, proving that overtaking at the narrow Spanish venue is not completely impossible to conduct as he did his best to recover from the frustrating events of Race 1.

A good start from the last row of the grid - coupled with some dedicated driving on the opening lap - propelled Felix into ninth early on, and an overtaking manoeuvre on Angola's Luis Sa Silva on lap two then ensured Felix eighth place and the final point in the 20-minute sprint.

The race proved entertaining throughout, with Felix being part of a five-car train that also included Will Buller, Tom Blomqvist (who later broke free and finished fourth), Emil Bernstorff and Daniel Juncadella. Felix was briefly up to sixth after passing Juncadella and Bernstorff in a frenetic scrap at Turn 2 halfway through the race, but both were able to regain their positions as Felix struggled for grip on the exit of the corner.

The race was won by Michael Lewis (Prema Powerteam), who scored his maiden Formula 3 Euro Series victory.

Race 3 takes place at 11.15 tomorrow morning, with Felix setting off from second place on the grid and nurturing hopes of a strong end to a weekend which has so far been marred by the double penalty he received in Race 1.

COMMENT | FELIX
"Results-wise, this obviously hasn't been the best of days for us, but at least I've been having some fun out there. I made a good start again in this race, and once I'd past Sa Silva after a few laps, I had some really nice and fair battles with Daniel (Juncadella). Overtaking is difficult around here, but we are as fast as anyone this weekend and I'm looking forward to tomorrow!"
