FORMULA 3 EURO SERIES
Date: July 1st, 2011
Venue: Norisring (Germany)
Formula 3 Euro Series action at the Norisring went underway in changeable conditions, as Felix got his first taste of the Nuremberg street circuit in free practice this morning.
The two-hour session, divided into two parts and separated by a five-minute break, began on a dry yet slightly chilly circuit. Felix set out to complete a couple of early exploratory laps, before steadily upping his pace until the skies opened and signalled a return to the pitlane for all of the drivers - barring an adventurous Daniel Juncadella - for the rest of the opening hour (which was topped by home favourite Marco Wittmann, 0.7 seconds faster than Felix).
The sun would not return to Nuremberg, and the second part of practice was run entirely on rain tyres. Felix was one of few to improve at the end of the session, after having remained in the pits when conditions - and lap times - were at their best earlier on. As it was, the Mücke Motorsport driver ended up 10th fastest on the timesheets, 1.3 seconds behind pacesetter Roberto Merhi. Times, however, were of less importance as drivers worked on different agendas and car set-up solutions for most of the morning.
