Throughout the autumn, www.felixracing.se will be running a series of articles where we look back at some of Felix's previous rivals - and chart where their careers have taken them by 2012. A new profile will be introduced every seven days. This week: Laurens Vanthoor.
Raced against Felix: 2011 (Formula 3 Euro Series), 2010-2011 (Macau GP)
Today: Race winner in maiden FIA GT1 World Championship outing
Belgium's Laurens Vanthoor rocketed onto the GT stage when he managed to win his first-ever race in the FIA GT1 World Championship at Nogaro, France, behind the wheel of his WRT Audi R8 LMS Ultra in April. In doing so, Vanthoor - who spent 2011 racing alongside Felix in Formula 3 Euro Series - proved without any doubt that he was instantly able to convert his driving style from one suitable for a 200 bhp single-seater machine to one that produced top results in a full-blood GT racer with twice the weight and power.
As recently as last weekend, Vanthoor qualified on pole position for the FIA GT1 World Championship finale at Donington Park in Great Britain.
Previously: Rio Haryanto, Jean-Éric Vergne, Kevin Magnussen, James Calado
